Rak je drugi vodeći uzrok smrtnosti u državama članicama i pogađa ljude iz cijele Europske unije. Gotovo da nema čovjeka na čiji život rak nije utjecao, bilo da ga je osobno pogodio ili da je oboljela njemu bliska osoba, član obitelji ili prijatelj. U idućih 25 godina, rak će se dijagnosticirati kod 100 milijuna Europljana. Stoga je borba protiv raka, svim raspoloživim sredstvima, jedan od prioriteta mog političkog i osobnog angažmana“, kaže zastupnik u Europskom parlamentu Tomislav Sokol, član Posebnog odbora za borbu protiv raka.
Hrvatska je prema statistikama smrtnosti od raka otprilike na razini Europske unije – rak je drugi po redu uzrok smrti nakon kardiovaskularnih bolesti, 25 posto umrlih građana Europske unije i 27 posto umrlih građana Hrvatske umire od raka.
„Znamo da se rak može prevenirati, da su potrebni dobri programi edukacije o prevenciji, kao i da se obolijevanje od raka može značajno umanjiti uklanjanjem rizičnih čimbenika kao što su pretilost, pušenje, fizička neaktivnost, onečišćenje okoliša i drugi. Zalažem se za to da se programi prevencije, kao i mogućnosti pristupa najboljim metodama liječenja učine jednako dostupnima svim građanima Europske unije“, naglašava zastupnik Sokol.
Europska unija u posljednje vrijeme poduzima velike napore upravo za poboljšanje javnozdravstvene politike, u čemu predvodi predsjednica Europske komisije iz redova EPP-a Ursula von der Leyen. Kao pripadnik iste parlamentarne EPP grupacije, koja je inicijator osnivanja Posebnog odbora za borbu protiv raka, Tomislav Sokol se kroz članstvo u Europskom parlamentu bori za to da se hrvatskim građanima omogući ista razina zdravstvene zaštite kakvu imaju građani bogatijih i razvijenijih europskih zemalja.
Od samog početka mandata Sokol se zalaže za veću dostupnost zdravstvene zaštite i povećanje kvalitete pružanja zdravstvenih usluga.
"Za liječenje u inozemstvu, koje je ponekad oboljelima od raka od životne važnosti, najčešće je potrebno iz džepa platiti predujam, a tek onda se nadati kako će HZZO refundirati barem dio tog novca, što je velikom broju pacijenata nemoguća misija. Još u svibnju sam pozvao Komisiju da počne financirati predujam i troškove za liječenje u inozemstvu kako bi pomogli pacijentima pri ostvarivanju svojih zakonskih prava, a za to ću se nastaviti boriti i kao član Odbora za borbu protiv raka“, naglasio je zastupnik Sokol.
Upravo je Posebni odbor za borbu protiv raka dobio nadležnost da procjenjuje, analizira i preporučuje sve što je potrebno za poduzimanje konkretnih koraka u borbi protiv raka, poticanje usvajanja najnovijih znanstvenih spoznaja o mogućoj prevenciji i liječenju raka, kao i povećanja prava pacijenata u koja spada i pravo na zaborav.
„Živimo u vremenu kad rak ne mora značiti smrtnu presudu i mnogi su slučajevi ljudi koji su preboljeli rak te sada opet uživaju bolju kvalitetu života. Nažalost, u mnogim zemljama često su izloženi diskriminaciji. Osiguravajuće kuće imaju pravo tražiti od klijenata podatak o tome jesu li preboljeli rak te se koristiti tim podatkom prilikom izračunavanja premija. U nekoliko europskih zemalja ograničen je rok nakon kojeg osobe koje su preboljele rak više ne moraju osiguravateljima i zajmodavcima otkriti svoju povijest bolesti, a ja se zalažem za ujednačavanje prakse na razini cijele Europske unije te uvođenje prava na zaborav svima koji su izliječeni od raka“, otkriva zastupnik Sokol jednu od važnih tema na kojima u Bruxellesu radi na dobrobit hrvatskih građana, a o kojoj se u javnosti malo zna.
Poseban odbor za borbu protiv raka procjenjivat će kako najbolje poduprijeti istraživanja za jačanje prevencije, dijagnosticiranja, liječenja i inovacija. Razmotrit će i kako pomoći neprofitnim kliničkim ispitivanjima kako bi se poboljšalo liječenje u područjima koja farmaceutska industrija ne istražuje jer nisu dovoljno profitabilna. Možda najvažnije od svega, Poseban odbor za borbu protiv raka održavat će saslušanja i posjećivati druge institucije Europske unije, relevantne agencije, kao i druge međunarodne i nacionalne institucije, nevladine organizacije i industrijske sektore, sve kako bi preporučio načine na koje bi se posebna sredstva EU-a trebala mobilizirati u svrhu postizanja visoke razine zaštite ljudskog zdravlja na temelju pristupa usmjerenog na pacijente.

Rak je drugi vodeći uzrok smrtnosti u državama članicama i pogađa ljude iz cijele Europske unije. Gotovo da nema čovjeka na čiji život rak nije utjecao, bilo da ga je osobno pogodio ili da je oboljela njemu bliska osoba, član obitelji ili prijatelj. U idućih 25 godina, rak će se dijagnosticirati kod 100 milijuna Europljana. Stoga je borba protiv raka, svim raspoloživim sredstvima, jedan od prioriteta mog političkog i osobnog angažmana“, kaže zastupnik u Europskom parlamentu Tomislav Sokol, član Posebnog odbora za borbu protiv raka.
Hrvatska je prema statistikama smrtnosti od raka otprilike na razini Europske unije – rak je drugi po redu uzrok smrti nakon kardiovaskularnih bolesti, 25 posto umrlih građana Europske unije i 27 posto umrlih građana Hrvatske umire od raka.
„Znamo da se rak može prevenirati, da su potrebni dobri programi edukacije o prevenciji, kao i da se obolijevanje od raka može značajno umanjiti uklanjanjem rizičnih čimbenika kao što su pretilost, pušenje, fizička neaktivnost, onečišćenje okoliša i drugi. Zalažem se za to da se programi prevencije, kao i mogućnosti pristupa najboljim metodama liječenja učine jednako dostupnima svim građanima Europske unije“, naglašava zastupnik Sokol.
Europska unija u posljednje vrijeme poduzima velike napore upravo za poboljšanje javnozdravstvene politike, u čemu predvodi predsjednica Europske komisije iz redova EPP-a Ursula von der Leyen. Kao pripadnik iste parlamentarne EPP grupacije, koja je inicijator osnivanja Posebnog odbora za borbu protiv raka, Tomislav Sokol se kroz članstvo u Europskom parlamentu bori za to da se hrvatskim građanima omogući ista razina zdravstvene zaštite kakvu imaju građani bogatijih i razvijenijih europskih zemalja.
Od samog početka mandata Sokol se zalaže za veću dostupnost zdravstvene zaštite i povećanje kvalitete pružanja zdravstvenih usluga.
"Za liječenje u inozemstvu, koje je ponekad oboljelima od raka od životne važnosti, najčešće je potrebno iz džepa platiti predujam, a tek onda se nadati kako će HZZO refundirati barem dio tog novca, što je velikom broju pacijenata nemoguća misija. Još u svibnju sam pozvao Komisiju da počne financirati predujam i troškove za liječenje u inozemstvu kako bi pomogli pacijentima pri ostvarivanju svojih zakonskih prava, a za to ću se nastaviti boriti i kao član Odbora za borbu protiv raka“, naglasio je zastupnik Sokol.
Upravo je Posebni odbor za borbu protiv raka dobio nadležnost da procjenjuje, analizira i preporučuje sve što je potrebno za poduzimanje konkretnih koraka u borbi protiv raka, poticanje usvajanja najnovijih znanstvenih spoznaja o mogućoj prevenciji i liječenju raka, kao i povećanja prava pacijenata u koja spada i pravo na zaborav.
„Živimo u vremenu kad rak ne mora značiti smrtnu presudu i mnogi su slučajevi ljudi koji su preboljeli rak te sada opet uživaju bolju kvalitetu života. Nažalost, u mnogim zemljama često su izloženi diskriminaciji. Osiguravajuće kuće imaju pravo tražiti od klijenata podatak o tome jesu li preboljeli rak te se koristiti tim podatkom prilikom izračunavanja premija. U nekoliko europskih zemalja ograničen je rok nakon kojeg osobe koje su preboljele rak više ne moraju osiguravateljima i zajmodavcima otkriti svoju povijest bolesti, a ja se zalažem za ujednačavanje prakse na razini cijele Europske unije te uvođenje prava na zaborav svima koji su izliječeni od raka“, otkriva zastupnik Sokol jednu od važnih tema na kojima u Bruxellesu radi na dobrobit hrvatskih građana, a o kojoj se u javnosti malo zna.
Poseban odbor za borbu protiv raka procjenjivat će kako najbolje poduprijeti istraživanja za jačanje prevencije, dijagnosticiranja, liječenja i inovacija. Razmotrit će i kako pomoći neprofitnim kliničkim ispitivanjima kako bi se poboljšalo liječenje u područjima koja farmaceutska industrija ne istražuje jer nisu dovoljno profitabilna. Možda najvažnije od svega, Poseban odbor za borbu protiv raka održavat će saslušanja i posjećivati druge institucije Europske unije, relevantne agencije, kao i druge međunarodne i nacionalne institucije, nevladine organizacije i industrijske sektore, sve kako bi preporučio načine na koje bi se posebna sredstva EU-a trebala mobilizirati u svrhu postizanja visoke razine zaštite ljudskog zdravlja na temelju pristupa usmjerenog na pacijente.
