Dok korona jurca svijetom, znanstvenici uporno rade na dešifriranju njezina genetskog koda, otkrivajući pritom važnu stavku - usprkos sumnjama, virus SARS-CoV-2, kako se stručno zove, ipak se u suštini drastično ne mijenja.

Drugim riječima, ne mutira u toliko velikom broju, što je svojstveno nekim drugim virusima. The Washington Post prenosi ovu informaciju, ističući navode znanstvenika koji ovakvu vijest prihvaćaju s velikim zadovoljstvom. Razloga za optimizam svakako ima jer znanstvenici vele da takvo otkriće znači da će jednom stvoreno cjepivo imati dugotrajniji učinak. Sjetimo se samo virusa gripe koji dolaze u nekoliko različitih podtipova, što automatski indicira i nekoliko različitih cjepiva.

Koronavirus ima, pojednostavljeno ćemo kazati, drukčiju genetiku, kažu znanstvenici, takvu da smanjuje razinu pogreške u svom unutrašnjem sastavu, ali i umanjuje tempo mutacija. Zbog toga ne dolazi u tako velikom broju sojeva. To i daje mogućnost usmjeravanje pažnje znanstvenika u smjeru stvaranja jednog univerzalnog dugoročnijeg cjepiva. Do njega ćemo još čekati, možda i od 12 do 18 mjeseci, no u svakom će slučaju biti itekako nužno s obzirom na indicije da će korona postati dugotrajni, globalni neprijatelj.

Do ove su spoznaje došli proučavanjem više od tisuću različitih uzoraka virusa, potvrđuje molekularni genetičar Peter Thielen iz laboratorija za primijenjenu fiziku Sveučilišta "Johns Hopkins".

Thieken navodi da je do sada otkriveno samo četiri do deset genetičkih razlika između sojeva iz zaraženih ljudi iz SAD-a, u odnosu na izvorni virus iz kineskog Wuhana.

-To je relativno mali broj mutacija ako ćemo gledati koliko je ljudi bilo zaraženo ovim virusom. Takva stopa mutacija nam sugerira da bi cjepivo na kojem struka radi bilo samo jedno, a ne mijenjano svake godine, kao što imamo slučaj kod virusa gripe. Recimo da bi to nalikovalo cjepivu poput onom protiv kozica ili ospica, što bi, dugoročno gledano, moglo stvoriti imunitet u ljudskoj populaciji - izjavio je za The Post ugledni genetičar.

Koronavirus, s kojim se bori cijeli svijet, sličan je koronavirusima koji prirodno cirkuliraju kod slijepih miševa. No usprkos tome on je dospio u ljudsko tijelo, najvjerojatnije konzumiranjem ljuskavca kao intermedijarnog oblika. Istočnjačka kultura u prehranu tradicionalno ubacuje i takve vrste životinja, držeći ih tradicionalnim lijekom protiv raznih bolesti.

To je i velika potencijalna opasnost za globalnu populaciju jer je teško vjerovati da će se iz prakse izbaciti konzumacija životinja tipa štakora, zmija, slijepih miševa, pasa, majmuna, ljuskavaca… Potencijalnog rezervoara brojnih za ljude novih i vrlo opasnih virusa.

Dok korona jurca svijetom, znanstvenici uporno rade na dešifriranju njezina genetskog koda, otkrivajući pritom važnu stavku - usprkos sumnjama, virus SARS-CoV-2, kako se stručno zove, ipak se u suštini drastično ne mijenja.

Drugim riječima, ne mutira u toliko velikom broju, što je svojstveno nekim drugim virusima. The Washington Post prenosi ovu informaciju, ističući navode znanstvenika koji ovakvu vijest prihvaćaju s velikim zadovoljstvom. Razloga za optimizam svakako ima jer znanstvenici vele da takvo otkriće znači da će jednom stvoreno cjepivo imati dugotrajniji učinak. Sjetimo se samo virusa gripe koji dolaze u nekoliko različitih podtipova, što automatski indicira i nekoliko različitih cjepiva.

Koronavirus ima, pojednostavljeno ćemo kazati, drukčiju genetiku, kažu znanstvenici, takvu da smanjuje razinu pogreške u svom unutrašnjem sastavu, ali i umanjuje tempo mutacija. Zbog toga ne dolazi u tako velikom broju sojeva. To i daje mogućnost usmjeravanje pažnje znanstvenika u smjeru stvaranja jednog univerzalnog dugoročnijeg cjepiva. Do njega ćemo još čekati, možda i od 12 do 18 mjeseci, no u svakom će slučaju biti itekako nužno s obzirom na indicije da će korona postati dugotrajni, globalni neprijatelj.

Do ove su spoznaje došli proučavanjem više od tisuću različitih uzoraka virusa, potvrđuje molekularni genetičar Peter Thielen iz laboratorija za primijenjenu fiziku Sveučilišta "Johns Hopkins".

Thieken navodi da je do sada otkriveno samo četiri do deset genetičkih razlika između sojeva iz zaraženih ljudi iz SAD-a, u odnosu na izvorni virus iz kineskog Wuhana.

-To je relativno mali broj mutacija ako ćemo gledati koliko je ljudi bilo zaraženo ovim virusom. Takva stopa mutacija nam sugerira da bi cjepivo na kojem struka radi bilo samo jedno, a ne mijenjano svake godine, kao što imamo slučaj kod virusa gripe. Recimo da bi to nalikovalo cjepivu poput onom protiv kozica ili ospica, što bi, dugoročno gledano, moglo stvoriti imunitet u ljudskoj populaciji - izjavio je za The Post ugledni genetičar.

Koronavirus, s kojim se bori cijeli svijet, sličan je koronavirusima koji prirodno cirkuliraju kod slijepih miševa. No usprkos tome on je dospio u ljudsko tijelo, najvjerojatnije konzumiranjem ljuskavca kao intermedijarnog oblika. Istočnjačka kultura u prehranu tradicionalno ubacuje i takve vrste životinja, držeći ih tradicionalnim lijekom protiv raznih bolesti.

To je i velika potencijalna opasnost za globalnu populaciju jer je teško vjerovati da će se iz prakse izbaciti konzumacija životinja tipa štakora, zmija, slijepih miševa, pasa, majmuna, ljuskavaca… Potencijalnog rezervoara brojnih za ljude novih i vrlo opasnih virusa.

Dok korona jurca svijetom, znanstvenici uporno rade na dešifriranju njezina genetskog koda, otkrivajući pritom važnu stavku - usprkos sumnjama, virus SARS-CoV-2, kako se stručno zove, ipak se u suštini drastično ne mijenja.

Drugim riječima, ne mutira u toliko velikom broju, što je svojstveno nekim drugim virusima. The Washington Post prenosi ovu informaciju, ističući navode znanstvenika koji ovakvu vijest prihvaćaju s velikim zadovoljstvom. Razloga za optimizam svakako ima jer znanstvenici vele da takvo otkriće znači da će jednom stvoreno cjepivo imati dugotrajniji učinak. Sjetimo se samo virusa gripe koji dolaze u nekoliko različitih podtipova, što automatski indicira i nekoliko različitih cjepiva.
