Vozila pogonjena vodikovim gorivim ćelijama polako hvataju zamah jer proizvođači i vlade brojnih država pripremaju teren za konačan pozdrav s motorima s unutrašnjim izgaranjem. Ipak, ova tehnologija mora prethodno preskočiti izvjesne prepreke. Pogonski sklopovi u vozilima koja koriste vodik kao gorivo mogu funkcionirati na dva načina – konvertirajući kemijsku energiju vodika u mehaničku, bilo izgaranjem ovog plina u cilindrima ili putem elektrokemijske reakcije. U potonjem slučaju, vodik se kombinira s atmosferskim kisikom da bi proizvodio energiju neophodnu za funkcioniranje elektromotora. Jedina emisija ovog procesa odnosi se na vodenu paru. Iako je ona bezazlena u usporedbi s drugim štetnim plinovima, treba istaknuti da je vodena para najprisutniji plin, koji s efektom staklenika u atmosferi (GHG) ima udjel od oko 72 posto.

U okviru novog izvještaja IDTechExa, analizirano je zanimanje za vozila pogonjena gorivim ćelijama i na koji bi način ona mogla biti konkurentnija u budućnosti. Automobili pogonjeni vodikom trenutačno imaju iste probleme kao i oni baterijski, a to se prije svega odnosi na manjak stanica za punjenje. Kako onda ova tehnologija može biti konkurentnija u budućnosti? IDTechEx je najprije istražio pristup vodikovoj ekonomiji koju već sada usvajaju brojne zemlje. Da bismo zapravo razumjeli na koji način se vodik proizvodi u velikom volumenu, IDTechEx je u svom najnovijem izvještaju "Green Hydrogen Production: Electrolyzer Markets 2021-2031" naglasak stavio na rastuće tržište elektrolizera. Ova tvrtka je proučavala i uspoređivala različite tehnologije elektrolizera i krajnje korisnike, kako bi pružila sveobuhvatan uvid u trenutačno tržište vodika, pokazujući zapravo u kojim sektorima će se vodik koristiti inicijalno i uz koje sustave elektrolizera.

IDTechEx smatra da će usvajanje vodika u automobilskom sektoru u najvećoj mjeri biti posljedica velike proizvodnje vodika. Kada se "zeleni" vodik bude masovno proizvodio i kada bude dosegnuo konkurentnu cijenu u odnosu na konvencionalna goriva, uz formiranu infrastrukturu, usvajanje vozila pogonjenih gorivim ćelijama značajno će se proširiti. Međutim, kao i njihovi baterijski "rođaci", automobili na vodik bit će potpomognuti subvencijama i olakšicama koje će osigurati vladajuće strukture u zemljama širom svijeta, da bi bila dosegnuta "potrebna razina konkurentnosti". Ipak, s trenutačnom stopom razvoja, to još uvijek nije održivo.

Europa je konkretno pokazala snažno zanimanje za usvajanje vodikovih sustava, prvenstveno zbog činjenice da je vodik sposoban "dekarbonizirati industrijske sektore teške za elektrifikaciju". U Francuskoj, istraživanje pokazuje, vodikovo čvorište povezano s mrežom stanica za punjenje također je najavljeno za potrebe automobilskog sektora u ovoj zemlji. Njemačka, jedna od prvih europskih država koje će prihvatiti vodik, predstavlja jednu od najvećih mreža stanica za punjenje vodikom na svijetu, zajedno s projektima miješanja vodika unutar plinovodne mreže, proizvodnog čvorišta "zelenog" vodika i usvajanja ovog plina za industrijske primjene. Italija još uvijek nije objavila svoju strategiju razvoja tehnologije vodika, ali "zahvaljujući strateškoj poziciji zemlje koja povezuje EU s afričkim kontinentom i cjevovodnoj povezanosti s Afrikom, vjerojatno će biti jedan od pokretača miješanja vodika u postojeće plinovodne mreže".

Proizvođači automobila su uglavnom u fazi istraživanja, osim Honde i Toyote, čiji su modeli Clarity i Mirai dostupni u nekim regijama. Nekoliko drugih kompanija, kao što je BMW, i dalje "važu" je li vrijeme da krenu ozbiljnije s razvojem vodikove tehnologije, iako su Bavarci upravo najavili lansiranje limitirane serije SUV-a pogonjenog gorivim ćelijama. S druge strane, VW ne vidi budućnost ove tehnologije u automobilskoj industriji, prvenstveno zbog toga što smatra da vozila tog tipa troše oko tri puta više energije u odnosu na baterijski pogonjene pandane po prijeđenom kilometru.

Prema podacima Wikipedije, 2019. godine se 98 posto proizvodnje vodika odnosilo na reformiranje metanske pare, što je proces koji za posljedicu ima emisiju ugljikova dioksida. Vodik se može proizvoditi termo-kemijskim putem ili pirolizom, uz korištenje obnovljivih izvora, ali trenutačno su ti procesi suviše skupi. U svijetu se ispituju razne tehnologije da bi se pronašla ona koja u isto vrijeme nudi niske troškove i dovoljno velik volumen proizvodnje da bi se natjecala s vodikom izdvojenim iz prirodnog plina. To donosi izvjesne probleme koji nisu mali, ali oni se prvenstveno odnose na onaj vodik koji nije "zeleni", tako da je put ovdje jasan. Treba imati na umu da je tržište vodika praktično u povojima, a bit će definirano u idućih deset do dvadeset godina, kada će se nametnuti i najveći igrači u ovom sektoru.

Vozila pogonjena vodikovim gorivim ćelijama polako hvataju zamah jer proizvođači i vlade brojnih država pripremaju teren za konačan pozdrav s motorima s unutrašnjim izgaranjem. Ipak, ova tehnologija mora prethodno preskočiti izvjesne prepreke. Pogonski sklopovi u vozilima koja koriste vodik kao gorivo mogu funkcionirati na dva načina – konvertirajući kemijsku energiju vodika u mehaničku, bilo izgaranjem ovog plina u cilindrima ili putem elektrokemijske reakcije. U potonjem slučaju, vodik se kombinira s atmosferskim kisikom da bi proizvodio energiju neophodnu za funkcioniranje elektromotora. Jedina emisija ovog procesa odnosi se na vodenu paru. Iako je ona bezazlena u usporedbi s drugim štetnim plinovima, treba istaknuti da je vodena para najprisutniji plin, koji s efektom staklenika u atmosferi (GHG) ima udjel od oko 72 posto.

U okviru novog izvještaja IDTechExa, analizirano je zanimanje za vozila pogonjena gorivim ćelijama i na koji bi način ona mogla biti konkurentnija u budućnosti. Automobili pogonjeni vodikom trenutačno imaju iste probleme kao i oni baterijski, a to se prije svega odnosi na manjak stanica za punjenje. Kako onda ova tehnologija može biti konkurentnija u budućnosti? IDTechEx je najprije istražio pristup vodikovoj ekonomiji koju već sada usvajaju brojne zemlje. Da bismo zapravo razumjeli na koji način se vodik proizvodi u velikom volumenu, IDTechEx je u svom najnovijem izvještaju "Green Hydrogen Production: Electrolyzer Markets 2021-2031" naglasak stavio na rastuće tržište elektrolizera. Ova tvrtka je proučavala i uspoređivala različite tehnologije elektrolizera i krajnje korisnike, kako bi pružila sveobuhvatan uvid u trenutačno tržište vodika, pokazujući zapravo u kojim sektorima će se vodik koristiti inicijalno i uz koje sustave elektrolizera.

IDTechEx smatra da će usvajanje vodika u automobilskom sektoru u najvećoj mjeri biti posljedica velike proizvodnje vodika. Kada se "zeleni" vodik bude masovno proizvodio i kada bude dosegnuo konkurentnu cijenu u odnosu na konvencionalna goriva, uz formiranu infrastrukturu, usvajanje vozila pogonjenih gorivim ćelijama značajno će se proširiti. Međutim, kao i njihovi baterijski "rođaci", automobili na vodik bit će potpomognuti subvencijama i olakšicama koje će osigurati vladajuće strukture u zemljama širom svijeta, da bi bila dosegnuta "potrebna razina konkurentnosti". Ipak, s trenutačnom stopom razvoja, to još uvijek nije održivo.

Europa je konkretno pokazala snažno zanimanje za usvajanje vodikovih sustava, prvenstveno zbog činjenice da je vodik sposoban "dekarbonizirati industrijske sektore teške za elektrifikaciju". U Francuskoj, istraživanje pokazuje, vodikovo čvorište povezano s mrežom stanica za punjenje također je najavljeno za potrebe automobilskog sektora u ovoj zemlji. Njemačka, jedna od prvih europskih država koje će prihvatiti vodik, predstavlja jednu od najvećih mreža stanica za punjenje vodikom na svijetu, zajedno s projektima miješanja vodika unutar plinovodne mreže, proizvodnog čvorišta "zelenog" vodika i usvajanja ovog plina za industrijske primjene. Italija još uvijek nije objavila svoju strategiju razvoja tehnologije vodika, ali "zahvaljujući strateškoj poziciji zemlje koja povezuje EU s afričkim kontinentom i cjevovodnoj povezanosti s Afrikom, vjerojatno će biti jedan od pokretača miješanja vodika u postojeće plinovodne mreže".

Proizvođači automobila su uglavnom u fazi istraživanja, osim Honde i Toyote, čiji su modeli Clarity i Mirai dostupni u nekim regijama. Nekoliko drugih kompanija, kao što je BMW, i dalje "važu" je li vrijeme da krenu ozbiljnije s razvojem vodikove tehnologije, iako su Bavarci upravo najavili lansiranje limitirane serije SUV-a pogonjenog gorivim ćelijama. S druge strane, VW ne vidi budućnost ove tehnologije u automobilskoj industriji, prvenstveno zbog toga što smatra da vozila tog tipa troše oko tri puta više energije u odnosu na baterijski pogonjene pandane po prijeđenom kilometru.

Prema podacima Wikipedije, 2019. godine se 98 posto proizvodnje vodika odnosilo na reformiranje metanske pare, što je proces koji za posljedicu ima emisiju ugljikova dioksida. Vodik se može proizvoditi termo-kemijskim putem ili pirolizom, uz korištenje obnovljivih izvora, ali trenutačno su ti procesi suviše skupi. U svijetu se ispituju razne tehnologije da bi se pronašla ona koja u isto vrijeme nudi niske troškove i dovoljno velik volumen proizvodnje da bi se natjecala s vodikom izdvojenim iz prirodnog plina. To donosi izvjesne probleme koji nisu mali, ali oni se prvenstveno odnose na onaj vodik koji nije "zeleni", tako da je put ovdje jasan. Treba imati na umu da je tržište vodika praktično u povojima, a bit će definirano u idućih deset do dvadeset godina, kada će se nametnuti i najveći igrači u ovom sektoru.

Automobili na vodik u budućnosti će biti konkurentniji: pogonski sklopovi u vozilima mogu funkcionirati na dva načina

Vozila pogonjena vodikovim gorivim ćelijama polako hvataju zamah jer proizvođači i vlade brojnih država pripremaju teren za konačan pozdrav s motorima s unutrašnjim izgaranjem. Ipak, ova tehnologija mora prethodno preskočiti izvjesne prepreke. Pogonski sklopovi u vozilima koja koriste vodik kao gorivo mogu funkcionirati na dva načina – konvertirajući kemijsku energiju vodika u mehaničku, bilo izgaranjem ovog plina u cilindrima ili putem elektrokemijske reakcije. U potonjem slučaju, vodik se kombinira s atmosferskim kisikom da bi proizvodio energiju neophodnu za funkcioniranje elektromotora. Jedina emisija ovog procesa odnosi se na vodenu paru.
