Turski krimić? Pasioniranom čitatelju žanrovske literature nisu potrebne dodatne preporuke. Ne zato što se radi o zemlji koja uživa u reputaciji velesile u toj spisateljskoj niši, nego iz potpuno suprotnog razloga, jer je u pitanju država iz koje su nam u zadnjih dvadesetak godina stigle cijele palete zanimljivih i uzbudljivih knjiga, ali krimići baš i nisu.

Istini za volju, prije sedam godina izdavačka kuća Hena com objavila je jedan roman Ahmeta Ümita ("Memento za Istanbul") koji mi se, skrušeno priznajem, provukao ispod radara i kojega sam postao svjestan tek ovih dana, nakon što nam je s iste adrese ponuđen još jedan krimić ovog pisca, "Rapsodija u Bejogluu", izvorno publiciran 2003. godine. Pa kako se Turci snalaze s papirnatim zločinima?

Naravno, na uzorku samo jedne knjige nema nikakva smisla izvoditi zaključke o karakteru i dometima čitave nacionalne produkcije. I to bez obzira na činjenicu što Ahmet Ümit uživa u reputaciji ponajboljeg tamošnjeg autora detektivske proze, dakle, neke vrste turskog Gorana Tribusona. No, govorimo li samo o ovome naslovu, jedna stvar nije upitna: kome je do daška egzotike, ambijenata koji su bitno drukčiji od onih na koje smo navikli i karaktera koji izmiču uobičajenim standardima, neće se razočarati.

ODUPIRANJE KOLOTEČINI

"Rapsodija u Bejogluu" (prijevod potpisuje Maja Tutavac) priča je o trojici sredovječnih prijatelja, Kenanu, Selimu i Nihatu, koji su nerazdvojni još od malih nogu. Prva dvojica rođena su u imućnim obiteljima i biznise svojih očeva samo su dodatno unaprijedili. Kenan vodi osiguravajuću tvrtku, a Selim ima vlastitu modnu marku. No, obojica su za volju poslovnog uspjeha žrtvovali neke osobne interese i ambicije. Puno više od polica i koeficijenata, Kenana zanima umjetnička fotografija, a Selim je morao odustati od arhitekture. Nihat je sušta suprotnost svojim uspješnim i bogatim prijateljima. Vodi antikvarijat koji bi davno propao da ga ne potpomažu odani drugovi, a k tome je i u braku sa strašnom rospijom, inače neuspješnom poetesom koja mu ulijeva strah u kosti. Kenan je, pak, još uvijek samac i uživa u reputaciji velikog ženskara, a Selimova supruga topla je i odana osoba potpuno posvećena odgoju njihova sina koji ima Downov sindrom.

Dobro, a kad će se stari prijatelji uplesti u kriminalističku intrigu? Ne prije dvjestote stranice, pri čemu bih vas molio da ovu formulaciju primite s dvostrukom rezervom. Prije svega zato što je slog razmjerno sitan i gust, što će reći da je broj stranica mogao biti i veći, a potom i stoga što se Kenan, Selim i Nihat ni tada zapravo neće umiješati u opasni zaplet. Samo će se njemu početi približavati. Tristotinjak i više stranica ove knjige mogu se prije svega čitati kao psihološki roman koji prati dinamiku uzajamnih odnosa trojice prijatelja koji se, načeti krizom srednjih godina, pokušavaju emocionalno i profesionalno repozicionirati, oduprijeti kolotečini i uteći prokletstvu da jednoga dana zaključe kako su zaludu potratili živote ne ostavivši za sobom nikakva traga.

KAŠNJENJE U POLASKU

Pravi krimić odmotat će se ustvari u zadnjih tridesetak stranica knjige. Je li to mrvicu prekasno za žanrovski kanon? Naravno da jest, i to ne mrvicu. Ne pamtim ni jedan sličan primjer tako kasnog paljenja žanrovske makinjete. A opet, obrat koji će centrifugirati priču i temeljito ispremiješati živote njezinih junaka toliko je neočekivan i dramatičan da je libar teško ne preporučiti.

Ahmet Ümit ne doima se kao naš suvremenik (rođen je 1960. godine). On je staromodan pripovjedač koji ništa ne želi prepustiti čitateljevoj mašti, pa svaku scenu do iznemoglosti raspisuje, samo što je ne nacrta. Potom, svoje junake, zrele muškarce na pragu starosti, počesto tretira kao karaktere u omladinskom romanu, ne ustručavajući se posegnuti i za "sapuničarskim" sentimentima. A krimić mu, objasnio sam vam već, beznadno kasni u polasku.

Unatoč svemu i na meni neobjašnjiv način, "Rapsodija u Bejogluu" čita se s lakoćom i guštom. Koji će biti osobito velik onim čitateljima koji poznaju Istanbul. Bejoglu, nekadašnja Pera, živopisna je, najeuropskija četvrt toga grada, koju su kroz povijest kršćani različitih nacionalnosti presudnije obilježili od Turaka, i koju Ümit nesumnjivo poznaje – u prostoru i u vremenu – kao svoj džep. Osim što je (doduše, falični, ali svejedno zavodljivi) krimić, "Rapsodija" je i neka vrsta ljubavne posvete kvartu koji će, nimalo ne sumnjam, svi čitatelji htjeti posjetiti nakon što odlože ovaj libar.

Turski krimić? Pasioniranom čitatelju žanrovske literature nisu potrebne dodatne preporuke. Ne zato što se radi o zemlji koja uživa u reputaciji velesile u toj spisateljskoj niši, nego iz potpuno suprotnog razloga, jer je u pitanju država iz koje su nam u zadnjih dvadesetak godina stigle cijele palete zanimljivih i uzbudljivih knjiga, ali krimići baš i nisu.

Istini za volju, prije sedam godina izdavačka kuća Hena com objavila je jedan roman Ahmeta Ümita ("Memento za Istanbul") koji mi se, skrušeno priznajem, provukao ispod radara i kojega sam postao svjestan tek ovih dana, nakon što nam je s iste adrese ponuđen još jedan krimić ovog pisca, "Rapsodija u Bejogluu", izvorno publiciran 2003. godine. Pa kako se Turci snalaze s papirnatim zločinima?

Naravno, na uzorku samo jedne knjige nema nikakva smisla izvoditi zaključke o karakteru i dometima čitave nacionalne produkcije. I to bez obzira na činjenicu što Ahmet Ümit uživa u reputaciji ponajboljeg tamošnjeg autora detektivske proze, dakle, neke vrste turskog Gorana Tribusona. No, govorimo li samo o ovome naslovu, jedna stvar nije upitna: kome je do daška egzotike, ambijenata koji su bitno drukčiji od onih na koje smo navikli i karaktera koji izmiču uobičajenim standardima, neće se razočarati.

ODUPIRANJE KOLOTEČINI

"Rapsodija u Bejogluu" (prijevod potpisuje Maja Tutavac) priča je o trojici sredovječnih prijatelja, Kenanu, Selimu i Nihatu, koji su nerazdvojni još od malih nogu. Prva dvojica rođena su u imućnim obiteljima i biznise svojih očeva samo su dodatno unaprijedili. Kenan vodi osiguravajuću tvrtku, a Selim ima vlastitu modnu marku. No, obojica su za volju poslovnog uspjeha žrtvovali neke osobne interese i ambicije. Puno više od polica i koeficijenata, Kenana zanima umjetnička fotografija, a Selim je morao odustati od arhitekture. Nihat je sušta suprotnost svojim uspješnim i bogatim prijateljima. Vodi antikvarijat koji bi davno propao da ga ne potpomažu odani drugovi, a k tome je i u braku sa strašnom rospijom, inače neuspješnom poetesom koja mu ulijeva strah u kosti. Kenan je, pak, još uvijek samac i uživa u reputaciji velikog ženskara, a Selimova supruga topla je i odana osoba potpuno posvećena odgoju njihova sina koji ima Downov sindrom.

Dobro, a kad će se stari prijatelji uplesti u kriminalističku intrigu? Ne prije dvjestote stranice, pri čemu bih vas molio da ovu formulaciju primite s dvostrukom rezervom. Prije svega zato što je slog razmjerno sitan i gust, što će reći da je broj stranica mogao biti i veći, a potom i stoga što se Kenan, Selim i Nihat ni tada zapravo neće umiješati u opasni zaplet. Samo će se njemu početi približavati. Tristotinjak i više stranica ove knjige mogu se prije svega čitati kao psihološki roman koji prati dinamiku uzajamnih odnosa trojice prijatelja koji se, načeti krizom srednjih godina, pokušavaju emocionalno i profesionalno repozicionirati, oduprijeti kolotečini i uteći prokletstvu da jednoga dana zaključe kako su zaludu potratili živote ne ostavivši za sobom nikakva traga.

KAŠNJENJE U POLASKU

Pravi krimić odmotat će se ustvari u zadnjih tridesetak stranica knjige. Je li to mrvicu prekasno za žanrovski kanon? Naravno da jest, i to ne mrvicu. Ne pamtim ni jedan sličan primjer tako kasnog paljenja žanrovske makinjete. A opet, obrat koji će centrifugirati priču i temeljito ispremiješati živote njezinih junaka toliko je neočekivan i dramatičan da je libar teško ne preporučiti.

Ahmet Ümit ne doima se kao naš suvremenik (rođen je 1960. godine). On je staromodan pripovjedač koji ništa ne želi prepustiti čitateljevoj mašti, pa svaku scenu do iznemoglosti raspisuje, samo što je ne nacrta. Potom, svoje junake, zrele muškarce na pragu starosti, počesto tretira kao karaktere u omladinskom romanu, ne ustručavajući se posegnuti i za "sapuničarskim" sentimentima. A krimić mu, objasnio sam vam već, beznadno kasni u polasku.

Unatoč svemu i na meni neobjašnjiv način, "Rapsodija u Bejogluu" čita se s lakoćom i guštom. Koji će biti osobito velik onim čitateljima koji poznaju Istanbul. Bejoglu, nekadašnja Pera, živopisna je, najeuropskija četvrt toga grada, koju su kroz povijest kršćani različitih nacionalnosti presudnije obilježili od Turaka, i koju Ümit nesumnjivo poznaje – u prostoru i u vremenu – kao svoj džep. Osim što je (doduše, falični, ali svejedno zavodljivi) krimić, "Rapsodija" je i neka vrsta ljubavne posvete kvartu koji će, nimalo ne sumnjam, svi čitatelji htjeti posjetiti nakon što odlože ovaj libar.
