Aloha – pozdravlja gledatelje sa Havaja nova serija u produkciji HBO-a koja ima premijeru 12. srpnja. Serija se zove "White Lotus" ("Bijeli lotos") i prava je ljetna, definicija (ovo)ljetne televizije. "White Lotus" je ugodno iznenađenje i osvježenje od serije, trenutni uvjerljivi favorit zasad varljivog TV ljeta i jedan od favorita neujednačene televizijske godine.

Ljetni adut HBO-a, šestodijelna serija kreatora i režisera Mikea Whitea ("Enlightened" ili "Prosvjetljenje" s Laurom Dern), u potpunosti se odvija tijekom jednog tjedna u istoimenom luksuznom havajskom ljetovalištu kamo smjesta teleportira svakog gledatelja, neovisno o predočenoj potvrdi o cijepljenju ili PCR testu.

Godišnji odmor je (o)siguran bez puno zavrzlama i nitko ne spominje koronu, premda se "Bijeli lotos" snimao na Mauiju tijekom pandemije. Hoćemo reći, svakome tko ovo ljeto iz ovog ili onog razloga ne može (ili ne želi) negdje otputovati, "White Lotus" može priuštiti osjećaj bijega od kuće, makar prividno budući da se mogu prepoznati u prilično ljudskim likovima/gostima ljetovališta i njihovim problemima.

"Bijeli lotos" je satirična humorna drama kakve viđamo u nezavisnoj američkoj kinematografiji Sundance provenijencije, uz misteriozno-trilerski "whodunit" dodatak a la Agatha Christie koji je vječna inspiracija filmašima (u kinima gledamo "Vukodlaka među nama").

Naime, "White Lotus" počinje na aerodromu, gdje gosti ljetovališta čekaju avion za let svojim kućama. Među njima je vidno utučeni Shane Patton (Jake Lacy; "Rampage") koji je stigao na medeni mjesec sa svojom suprugom. Neki stariji par ispituje Shanea što se dogodilo, a kamera snima kako se u avion prebacuje nečiji leš. Tko je stradao, kako i zašto? Je li to Shaneova supruga koju ne vidimo u prvoj sceni?

Odgovora nema (trebat ćete pričekati do posljednje epizode), samo je očito da je netko u ljetovalištu završio mrtav i da je to jedan od likova koje ćemo upoznati. A likovi su šaroliki i mahom živopisni.

Tu su Shane i njegova lijepa mlada žena Rachel (zvjezdica u usponu Alexandra Daddario), kao i zgodne studentice Olivia (Sydney Sweeney; "Euforija") i Paula (Brittany O’Grady) koje iz dosade zlobno komentiraju friški bračni par: "Ona ga voli, ali on ima mali penis".

Cure su na ljetovanju s Olivijinom disfunkcionalnom familijom Mossbacher, njezinom majkom direktoricom (Connie Britton, glumica prilično nalik Kolindi Grabar-Kitarović), ocem s kompleksom manje vrijednosti (najpoznatije ime u ekipi Steve Zahn) i društveno neprilagođenim mlađim bratom (Fred Hechinger).

Na ljetovanju je i Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge, znana kao "Stiflerova mama" iz "Američke pite") koja je došla raspršiti pepeo svoje majke.

Zanimljivi su i lokalni likovi, poput voditeljice spa centra Belinde (Natasha Rothwell), najviše hotelski menadžer Armond (Murray Bartlett) koji svome pomoćniku (Lukas Gage) kaže "Oni iskorištavaju mene, ja iskorištavam tebe". Rečenica je znakovita u seriji koja secira društvo na ljetovalištu s naglaskom na bogate i povlaštene bijele Amerikance i njihov "američki san" projiciran na Havajima.

Ispod savršene fasade kriju se mnoge nesavršenosti, ispod zraka zlatnog sunca vreba mrak i svaki lik skriva nešto, neki potisnuti osjećaj, ili ga nešto mori, kao što, primjerice, Rachel dvoji je li se trebala udati za Shanea. Zabavna situacijska komedija se gotovo neprimjetno "koktelski" miješa s dramom i satirom, gorko sa slatkim, zloba s dobrotom, zlonamjerno s dobronamjernim.

Gledatelj je opijen koktelom, zaveden egzotičnom lokacijom, uljuljkan u odmor neovisno o standardnim stresnim momentima i s likovima je uvučen u zbivanja na korak od dekadencije, zahvaljujući njihovoj karakterizaciji iz Whiteova pera i dobrim glumcima koji ih utjelovljuju.

Toliko da može smetnuti s uma početak serije, odnosno da je netko od njih stradao i da misterija treba biti otkrivena. White dobro i ujednačeno vodi karakterizaciju i naraciju, serija se fino razvija i neočekivano igra s emocijama likova i publike, stoga ni u jednom trenutku gledatelj nema osjećaj da se priča nepotrebno razvlači.

Naprotiv, ovaj gledatelj je, za promjenu, poželio da traje duže od šest epizoda i nije mu bilo lako vratiti u stvarnost jednom kad je napustio havajsko ljetovalište i pozdravio se sa serijom koja ima srce, pa neka je crno. Aloha.

Aloha – pozdravlja gledatelje sa Havaja nova serija u produkciji HBO-a koja ima premijeru 12. srpnja. Serija se zove "White Lotus" ("Bijeli lotos") i prava je ljetna, definicija (ovo)ljetne televizije. "White Lotus" je ugodno iznenađenje i osvježenje od serije, trenutni uvjerljivi favorit zasad varljivog TV ljeta i jedan od favorita neujednačene televizijske godine.

Ljetni adut HBO-a, šestodijelna serija kreatora i režisera Mikea Whitea ("Enlightened" ili "Prosvjetljenje" s Laurom Dern), u potpunosti se odvija tijekom jednog tjedna u istoimenom luksuznom havajskom ljetovalištu kamo smjesta teleportira svakog gledatelja, neovisno o predočenoj potvrdi o cijepljenju ili PCR testu.

Godišnji odmor je (o)siguran bez puno zavrzlama i nitko ne spominje koronu, premda se "Bijeli lotos" snimao na Mauiju tijekom pandemije. Hoćemo reći, svakome tko ovo ljeto iz ovog ili onog razloga ne može (ili ne želi) negdje otputovati, "White Lotus" može priuštiti osjećaj bijega od kuće, makar prividno budući da se mogu prepoznati u prilično ljudskim likovima/gostima ljetovališta i njihovim problemima.

"Bijeli lotos" je satirična humorna drama kakve viđamo u nezavisnoj američkoj kinematografiji Sundance provenijencije, uz misteriozno-trilerski "whodunit" dodatak a la Agatha Christie koji je vječna inspiracija filmašima (u kinima gledamo "Vukodlaka među nama").

Naime, "White Lotus" počinje na aerodromu, gdje gosti ljetovališta čekaju avion za let svojim kućama. Među njima je vidno utučeni Shane Patton (Jake Lacy; "Rampage") koji je stigao na medeni mjesec sa svojom suprugom. Neki stariji par ispituje Shanea što se dogodilo, a kamera snima kako se u avion prebacuje nečiji leš. Tko je stradao, kako i zašto? Je li to Shaneova supruga koju ne vidimo u prvoj sceni?

Odgovora nema (trebat ćete pričekati do posljednje epizode), samo je očito da je netko u ljetovalištu završio mrtav i da je to jedan od likova koje ćemo upoznati. A likovi su šaroliki i mahom živopisni.

Tu su Shane i njegova lijepa mlada žena Rachel (zvjezdica u usponu Alexandra Daddario), kao i zgodne studentice Olivia (Sydney Sweeney; "Euforija") i Paula (Brittany O’Grady) koje iz dosade zlobno komentiraju friški bračni par: "Ona ga voli, ali on ima mali penis".

Cure su na ljetovanju s Olivijinom disfunkcionalnom familijom Mossbacher, njezinom majkom direktoricom (Connie Britton, glumica prilično nalik Kolindi Grabar-Kitarović), ocem s kompleksom manje vrijednosti (najpoznatije ime u ekipi Steve Zahn) i društveno neprilagođenim mlađim bratom (Fred Hechinger).

Na ljetovanju je i Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge, znana kao "Stiflerova mama" iz "Američke pite") koja je došla raspršiti pepeo svoje majke.

Zanimljivi su i lokalni likovi, poput voditeljice spa centra Belinde (Natasha Rothwell), najviše hotelski menadžer Armond (Murray Bartlett) koji svome pomoćniku (Lukas Gage) kaže "Oni iskorištavaju mene, ja iskorištavam tebe". Rečenica je znakovita u seriji koja secira društvo na ljetovalištu s naglaskom na bogate i povlaštene bijele Amerikance i njihov "američki san" projiciran na Havajima.

Ispod savršene fasade kriju se mnoge nesavršenosti, ispod zraka zlatnog sunca vreba mrak i svaki lik skriva nešto, neki potisnuti osjećaj, ili ga nešto mori, kao što, primjerice, Rachel dvoji je li se trebala udati za Shanea. Zabavna situacijska komedija se gotovo neprimjetno "koktelski" miješa s dramom i satirom, gorko sa slatkim, zloba s dobrotom, zlonamjerno s dobronamjernim.

Gledatelj je opijen koktelom, zaveden egzotičnom lokacijom, uljuljkan u odmor neovisno o standardnim stresnim momentima i s likovima je uvučen u zbivanja na korak od dekadencije, zahvaljujući njihovoj karakterizaciji iz Whiteova pera i dobrim glumcima koji ih utjelovljuju.

Toliko da može smetnuti s uma početak serije, odnosno da je netko od njih stradao i da misterija treba biti otkrivena. White dobro i ujednačeno vodi karakterizaciju i naraciju, serija se fino razvija i neočekivano igra s emocijama likova i publike, stoga ni u jednom trenutku gledatelj nema osjećaj da se priča nepotrebno razvlači.

Naprotiv, ovaj gledatelj je, za promjenu, poželio da traje duže od šest epizoda i nije mu bilo lako vratiti u stvarnost jednom kad je napustio havajsko ljetovalište i pozdravio se sa serijom koja ima srce, pa neka je crno. Aloha.

Zanimljivi su i lokalni likovi, poput voditeljice spa centra Belinde (Natasha Rothwell), najviše hotelski menadžer Armond (Murray Bartlett) koji svome pomoćniku (Lukas Gage) kaže "Oni iskorištavaju mene, ja iskorištavam tebe". Rečenica je znakovita u seriji koja secira društvo na ljetovalištu s naglaskom na bogate i povlaštene bijele Amerikance i njihov "američki san" projiciran na Havajima.

Ispod savršene fasade kriju se mnoge nesavršenosti, ispod zraka zlatnog sunca vreba mrak i svaki lik skriva nešto, neki potisnuti osjećaj, ili ga nešto mori, kao što, primjerice, Rachel dvoji je li se trebala udati za Shanea. Zabavna situacijska komedija se gotovo neprimjetno "koktelski" miješa s dramom i satirom, gorko sa slatkim, zloba s dobrotom, zlonamjerno s dobronamjernim.

Gledatelj je opijen koktelom, zaveden egzotičnom lokacijom, uljuljkan u odmor neovisno o standardnim stresnim momentima i s likovima je uvučen u zbivanja na korak od dekadencije, zahvaljujući njihovoj karakterizaciji iz Whiteova pera i dobrim glumcima koji ih utjelovljuju.

Toliko da može smetnuti s uma početak serije, odnosno da je netko od njih stradao i da misterija treba biti otkrivena. White dobro i ujednačeno vodi karakterizaciju i naraciju, serija se fino razvija i neočekivano igra s emocijama likova i publike, stoga ni u jednom trenutku gledatelj nema osjećaj da se priča nepotrebno razvlači.

Naprotiv, ovaj gledatelj je, za promjenu, poželio da traje duže od šest epizoda i nije mu bilo lako vratiti u stvarnost jednom kad je napustio havajsko ljetovalište i pozdravio se sa serijom koja ima srce, pa neka je crno. Aloha.
